Purpose Partner- Alysa Harkness

I’m so excited to have one of my girls Alysa share her story today. I am so proud of her! She has been on a heck of a journey and she has not given up.  She's awesome enough to be in my close circle! She’s a woman of many skills. Did I mention she can bake her tail off? LOL. Enjoy!

Tell us about what exactly you are doing to fulfill your purpose.

I believe my purpose is to comfort others. I've always had a heart to serve people and comfort them as well. What I am doing now to fulfill this purpose is my implementing what I have learned from my missions trips, education, and life experiences to comfort dying patients and their families. Also, I have a blog (Commissioned Faith) that shares stories of missionaries, recipes, and to give encouragement to others in their purpose.

How did you know what you were called to do?

Well, it's been a combination of life experiences I've had and the Holy Spirit directly telling me. I have always had a heart for older adults, baking, and missions (I have always loved to travel, eat sweets, and hang around my grandparents).

How do you handle fear and doubt when it comes to your purpose?

One thing that I have been grateful for is the purposeful people God has placed in my life. People that encourage, challenge, and support the purpose God has given me. So, when those times come when I think I'm not good enough or I think my words wont have impact, I recite to myself, "God gave you this purpose, He will provide what you need, and you are needed". I also make sure I carve out time to be alone with God.

How do you use your gift to uplift God’s kingdom?

I use my gift to display and share God's love. To be a listening ear, a helping hand, and to share the gifts of others. We all have different purposes, but we all were created to reach people in different ways.

What advice do you have for people, especially women, who are not sure what they were called to do or may be afraid to step out on faith?

The first thing I would share is to take a look at the people you surround yourself with (your friends). Are they edifying, supportive, do they challenge you to be better? The second thing would be to carve out purposeful time to do a devotional, read a book, listen to music, something that gets your creative juices flowing. For me it was doing a devotional and baking! I do tons of thinking during those times.

Purpose Partner- Jeida Walker

Today, I'm featuring another amazing woman who is living her purpose each day. My dear friend, Jeida Walker, is fulfilling her purpose through her words. She’s an amazing wife, friend, and writer. I'm so grateful to know her!

Tell us about what exactly you are doing to fulfill your purpose.

I am a writer. God has graced me with the gift to weave stories about people in impossible situations and as they sort their way out of the mess, He comes to the rescue. I believe there are so many untold stories from people you and I might overlook every day. My stories highlight these people and draw us into their lives, their fears, their desires, their dreams. It is my goal to cause every reader to find themselves on the pages of my novels.

How did you know what you were called to do?

I have been writing since I was very young. In fact, before I could create my own stories I used to gather my favorite Dr. Seuss books and a tablet, and copy each word down. There was something about putting words on paper that intrigued me even before I knew what I was doing. I wrote songs, poetry, short stories, and novels growing up. One night while I was banging away at a piece, my father told me that the Lord revealed to him that I would write for Him. Writing was my purpose. I’ve been walking in it ever since.

How do you handle fear and doubt when it comes to your purpose?

Whenever those thoughts try to invade—and they will—I talk to my mentors who remind me why I’m doing what I’m doing. I also ask the Lord to give me fresh inspiration. When doubt threatens to cripple you, you must push through and take control of it. It’s nothing more than the enemy wanting to stop your greatness because he knows the potential it has. Keep fighting!

How do you use your gift to uplift God’s kingdom?

By blogging about various topics to encourage women. I also use the words God gives me to offer advice and support to the people God places in my life. I think it’s important that my books display His grace in some form or fashion. He orchestrates everything, even when we feel like our lives are a mess.

What advice do you have for people, especially women, who are not sure what they were called to do or may be afraid to step out on faith?

The first thing to do is to ask the Lord to reveal it to you. Ask Him to make your life’s purpose so clear. Secondly, I would suggest that the thing you love to do most is likely what you’re called to do. What brings you joy? Does it contribute to the Kingdom and the uplifting of others? You may be closer to your purpose than you think. And if you’re afraid to step out on that calling, think about all the lives that are waiting on you to make that step. There are people who need your gift to perhaps reach their full potential. So, consider them, consider what this world would be like without your gift. Use that to push you into your purpose. We need you. Join us and you’ll never regret taking that leap.

Purpose Partner- Ty Lewis

Today, I'm featuring another amazing woman who is living her purpose each day. As a mother, wife, and so much more, Ty Lewis wears many hats. She's a role model to many women! I'm so grateful to know her. Check out the nuggets of wisdom she so graciously shared with us:

Tell us about what exactly you are doing to fulfill your purpose.

To me, purpose is seasonal.  God may give me many things to do, just in different seasons. In order to understand my purpose, I sit before God to make sure that I'm in His will.  I don't want to do what I want to do, but I want to do what He called me to do. When He gives me instructions for my next steps, I obey immediately.  In addition to that, I make sure that I discipline myself during this time, so I won't get distracted.  I also keep people around me to hold me accountable, and after completing the plan for my purpose, I get to work.

How did you know what you were called to do?

I've always known I wanted to teach, but now, it's just in a different capacity.  Your calling can be found when you understand the problem you were created to solve.  For me, education has always been my top priority.  My purpose is to close the literacy gap for children in low-income areas.

How do you handle fear and doubt when it comes to your purpose?

Fear and doubt will always be present when you're walking in purpose.  You just have to understand that your faith has to be greater that the fears that are present.  Fear doesn't come from God, but it comes from the enemy.  Rest in the fact that God has not given you the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.

How do you use your gift to uplift God’s kingdom?

I use my gift to uplift God's kingdom by taking the focus off of me and pointing people back to Him.  That's something I had to learn.  When you're about kingdom business, it's not your business.  We were called to do the work of God to point people back to God.

What advice do you have for people, especially women, who are not sure what they were called to do or may be afraid to step out on faith?

If you are not sure about your calling, seek God.  He's the one that knew you, created you, put purpose in you, and gave you a future and hope.  Don't ever be afraid to do what He called you to do.  Someone is tied to your obedience, and they are waiting on your yes.

Purpose Partner- Lakeisha Dixon

What a treat to have one of my mentors and inspirations, Lakeisha Dixon, share wisdom with us. This lady exudes confidence and wisdom. She is a minister, life coach, author, and speaker. I am so grateful to know her. You all are in for something good from this. So, grab some coffee or tea. Sit back and prepare to be enlightened.

Tell us about what exactly you are doing to fulfill your purpose?

Purpose is my force and power to get God's will done. God has given me a mandate to fulfill His purpose by activating and breaking women free spiritually, emotionally, mentally, professionally, and financially. God has also given me a position in the marketplace to coach and train employers and employees to unlock corporate power.

How did you know what you were called to do?

We were all created to help someone. We are suppose to encourage, heal, train, serve, give, love, empower, teach, mentor, coach, motivate, consult, share the good news of the gospel, replenish, multiply and subdue. If you are helping someone you are already in purpose. I knew that I loved helping women and I knew that I wanted to help women by being their coach and trainer. God revealed it to me through my passion. He showed me a problem that needed to be solved.

How do you handle fear and doubt when it comes to your purpose?

I know that if I am faced with fear, it very well mean that I can overcome it. Why would the devil temp me with fear if, he didn't think I can do the assignment at hand? Doubt is the cousin of fear and I tell myself daily that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Fear is an illusion of my mind that God never gave me. Fear and Faith both speak loud; both deals with the unseen- One is a positive and one is a negative. I have trained my mind to lean on the positive more than the negative.

How do you use your gift to uplift God’s kingdom?

By making His name famous and glorifying the name above all names. I use my gifts to empower and impacted women from all walks of life. When I use my gifts, I am activating His obedience in the earth realm. In addition, when we use our gifts lives are being changed and souls are being saved.

What advice do you have for people, especially women, who are not sure what they were called to do or may be afraid to step out on faith?

Many are called but few are chosen. The many refused to follow instructions but God knew that few will be willing to be the salt of the earth. Follow your heart-there lies passion and truth. When you wanted to pass a test in school what did you do? You studied to show yourself approved. It's the same thing in the kingdom; when you study, all the answers to the test is already on the inside of you. Keep studying and seeking and you will always pass the test because the Father will grant the answer key to you.
